Business Idea – Niche Site Flipping for A Steady Income

There are likely a thousand and one different ways to make money online. So why would you want to build and flip niche websites? For one thing, the money is fairly quick. And for another, once you learn how to do it, it becomes an easy system you can duplicate over and over again whenever you need some cash.

The trick to creating these websites is to use unique content and to have an exit strategy. That is, you know from day 1 that your entire purpose in building the website is to flip it to another buyer, and so you act accordingly.

Here then is a step-by-step plan you can follow for niche site flipping.

  1. Choose a niche for your website. You might visit flippa.com to see what  is selling, or use a keyword research tool to find a good niche. Another possibility is to go to Clickbank or Amazon and choose your niche based on a specific category of products.

  1. If you haven’t already, do keyword research for the niche. Choose 12 to 15 long-tail keywords with as little competition as possible.

  1. Buy a domain name that is the same as one of your long-tail keywords. If the dot com is not available for your best keywords, use dot org or dot net. It’s more important that the domain is a long-tail keyword than it is a dot com.

  1. Write an article for each keyword, and a second article for the top 3-5 keywords. Each article should be at least 300 words, with most in the 450-600 range.

  1. Format your articles in HTML (Edit Plus is free if you don’t have an HTML editor.)

  1. Get hosting if you don’t already have it.

  1. Point your new website’s domain name to your hosting company.

  1. Go to http://www.oswd.org/ (Open Source Web Design) and choose a free template from over 2,000 available.

  1. Sign up for Adsense if you don’t already have an account, and add Adsense to each of your webpages. I suggest using one large rectangle at the top or to the side of each article, although some people prefer to place it at the bottom of the article. Frankly, I think you’ll get more clicks if it’s at the top, but you can split test if you want to know what works best on your website.

  1. Upload your website using Filezilla

  1. Bookmark each of your pages using a bookmarking site or service if you have one. Tag each page using the long-tail keyword for that page.

  1. Submit your second articles for your top keywords to http://EzineArticles.com . In the resource box for each article you’ll place two links: One goes to the home page and the other to the appropriate internal page. Use anchor text instead of the full URL (it looks much more professional and is more likely to receive clicks.)

  1. Once Ezine Articles accepts your articles (this can take one or several days, depending on your status at Ezine Articles) bookmark each of the articles with the same long-tail keyword that article is optimized for.

  1. Optional: Write additional articles for your best long-tail keywords and create pages on Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, Blogger, Hubpages, etc. Remember to use the relevant keyword for each article as the anchor text linking back to your website. Then bookmark each of the Web 2.0 properties.

  1. Hold onto your websites until you can show some traffic flowing in. The more traffic you can demonstrate, the more your site will tend to be worth. Thus, holding onto your website for a couple of months will tend to get you a better price than selling it after 2 weeks.

  1. Optional: Add affiliate programs to your websites for additional income. The more income your websites are making, the more they’re worth.

  1. When you’re ready, sell your websites at http://flippa.com or http://eflipp.com

  1. Rinse and repeat as many times as you like.

  1. If you build a lot of these websites, you might consider holding onto the most profitable ones to build up a residual income. This way you’re not only making money by building and flipping websites, you also have a steadily growing portfolio of money generating sites, and if you ever decide to stop building, you’ll still have money coming in.

Remember, your first website will be the most difficult and take the longest because you are learning. Your second will be much easier, and so forth. Stick to it and you can earn $1,000 to $3,000 a month or more simply building and selling these websites.
